Radha Surabhi Goshala was founded by Sudevi Dasi Mataji in 1996.

Focus here is on caring for Gauvansh those are not cared for by society: the sick, injured and handicapped Gauvansh those, despite being so dear to the Lord, are homeless and deeply suffering. Everyday people bring Gauvansh to this Gaushala, and they are never turned away.

Originally from Germany, Sudevi Dasi Mataji has been residing in Radha Kund for over 35 years, and with a few local helpers taking care of Gauvansh in need.

Many of the Gauvansh that reside at the goshala have leg injuries and have learnt to balance or walk on three legs. There are also Gauvansh that are paralyzed and supported on specialized cow slings several hours a day to ensure they are upright to help blood circulation.

With no medical knowledge prior to the goshala, Sudevi Mataji has learnt how to put bandages, clean wounds and straighten broken legs, as there are no vets in the vicinity. There are always between 40 and 50 cows under treatment or surgery. Sudevi doesn’t refuse any suffering Gauvansh that is brought to her. Because of this, she receives between 1 to 3 injured or sick Gauvansh every day and the number of cows is always increasing. At present there are about 1200 Gauvansh in her goshala. She gives away the healthy Gauvansh to Mataji Gaushala  where they are also properly taken care of.

The most special part of the goshala is the barn where Gauvansh who do not have much longer left to live, reside. The Maha-Mantra (Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare) chants are played the entire day on a sound system and the Gauvansh leave their bodies listening to these sacred chants.
